Castellammare – Abodi witnesses the launching of the military ship Atlante

The degraded outskirts of the Cmi district of Castellammare di Stabia, but also that of the excellence of the Olympic rowers trained by the historic Circolo Nautico Stabia. And the city of the Bourbon shipyard, which this morning launched the military ship “Atlante”. The Minister of Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, witnessed the launch from the quay at the port, mixed among the citizens of Stabia crowded in every corner to enjoy the spectacle of the “baptism of the sea” of the 450 million euro Navy unit.
Abodi was struck by the historic wooden canoes that marked the podium glory of the legendary Abbagnale brothers, Peppiniello Di Capua and Ciccio Esposito, nine world titles and the first Italian athlete to be awarded the Keller prize, an international recognition from FISA (1996).

On the figure of the 120 thousand young people who leave Italy and especially the South every year, Abodi noted that the negative data lies in the fact that these are young people “who do not return” and for whom the Government wants to “create conditions so that they leave for experience, but must then find conditions to return.”
Sport, as a value to unite and not divide “is the tool – underlined the minister – which must increasingly move from a declaration of intent to an increasingly daily, effective and widespread practice, because the whole spectrum of social hardship that leads to sport can mitigate, limit and counteract deviances and inequalities, including aspects of discrimination in all its forms, from anti-Semitism to racism”.
