CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA. The degraded outskirts of the CMI district of Castellammare di Stabia, but also that of the excellence of the Olympic rowers and world champions trained by the historic Stabia Nautical Club. And the city of the Bourbon shipyard, which just this morning launched the military ship “Atlante”.

The Minister of Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, witnessed the launch from the quay at the port, mixed with the citizens of Stabia crowded on every corner suitable to enjoy the spectacle of the “baptism of the sea” of the 450 million euro Navy unit .

Abodi was enraptured when contemplating the historic wooden canoes that marked the podium glory of the legendary Abbagnale brothers, Peppeniello Di Capua and Ciccio Esposito, nine world titles and the first Italian athlete to be awarded the Keller Prize, an international recognition of FISA (1996).

Launching and rowing, Sport and work, for Minister Abodi «together contribute to a good prospect for the future, both indispensable for collective well-being». On the figure of the 120 thousand young people who leave Italy and especially the South every year, Abodi noted that the negative data lies in the fact that these are young people “who do not return” and for whom the Government wants to “create conditions so that they leave for form the experience, but find conditions to make them return.”

Sport, as a value for uniting and not dividing «is the tool that must increasingly move from a declaration of intent to an increasingly daily, effective and widespread practice, because sport will address the entire spectrum of social hardship that leads to deviance and inequalities. it can cushion, limit, counteract. Including aspects of discrimination in all its forms, from anti-Semitism, racism, but also territorial racism. Ours is a society that must not only be inclusive, but must be cohesive, through respect for people. And sport must set a good example. This applies to the protagonists of sport first of all. But also for those who participate in major sporting events. We still see many times in stadiums behaviors on the field and in the stands that are not adequate. Ours is a systematic commitment, even with more stringent rules that allow us to remove individuals who do not respect these rules. The possibility of tracing the Daspo so that it remains in people’s life paths so that it is not simply a slap. But this is to make those who go on the pitch increasingly responsible. But not just for football. The value of sport is also educational, which the Constitution speaks of, which is recognized but which must be practiced and witnessed. I believe that words are important but facts are much more important, and for this reason we put in place a direction with the Minister of Education, the Minister of Universities, the Minister of the Interior. So that sport becomes more and more established due to the correspondence of the values preached with those practiced in daily life.”
