TRENT. In 2023, more than 19 million overnight stays were recorded in Trentino, 70% of which were in hotel facilities, with a prevalence of Italian tourists (57.6%).
During the Asat assembly which took place yesterday afternoon, the data from the latest Ispat report was taken up, which confirmed that the numbers of arrivals and presences for 2023 exceeded the values of 2019, making last year the better than the last ten.
The data on overnight stays by foreign tourists is also good, increasing by 15.9% in 2023 compared to pre-Covid. The president of Asat Giovanni Battaiola – we read in a note – also brought the data from the research carried out by Trentino marketing through the TrustYou platform in the period January-December 2023 to measure guest satisfaction. Out of 360,000 reviews, almost all (90%) are categorized as positive.
“The hotelier category – Battaiola recalled – continues to experience critical issues in staff recruitment, even if these have partially resolved compared to last year”. In 2023, the sector recorded 47,214 people employed in commerce, hotels and restaurants, but also a high incidence of voluntary resignations (over 4,500, 18.1% of the total resignations).
“We think it is wrong to reduce everything to an economic question”, commented Battaiola. “It is essential to change the narrative we make of employment in our sector and, above all, the organization of our companies in order to allow those who work in our sector to seek greater balance and a better balance between life time and that of work”.
According to Asat, the new regulatory provision which allows the creation of guesthouses for a maximum of five years in properties that have been abandoned for at least a year would not constitute an effective response to the shortage of accommodation for tourism collaborators.
