Images that cut out slices of reality, playing with lights and contrasts to document the beauty of the mountains. But above all, snapshots to share with a wider community. TO Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomites returns, for the second consecutive year, the collective exhibition “What a mountain view” dedicated to the world of Instagram, in collaboration with Instagramers Italy.

The exhibition center at 2,732 meters, suspended between Alta Badia and Cortina d’Ampezzo, inaugurates the summer by hosting, starting from June 1st the best contents of this second edition, collected through an open call. Just like in 2023, Instagramers Italy (@weareigersit) e Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomites (@lagazuoidolomiti) have launched a challenge open to everyone: there is still time until May 21st to participate with one or more photographic contents, among reel, video and photos, capable of making the most of the mountain. The vernissage is scheduled for Saturday 8 June.

“Since the days of the pioneers of mountaineering, the mountains have always attracted photographers. An immense iconographic heritage has been created around the theme, which has partly given rise to far too many clichés: just think of postcards” he says Stephen Illing, creator of the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti laboratory and exhibition space. “We try to reshuffle the cards by appealing to the public and their creativity, to the passion that animates those who come up here, witness this beauty and cannot resist the temptation to share this emotion on social media. We multiply points of view, thanks to this happy partnership with Instagramers Italia, to obtain a kaleidoscope of new images.”

“Last year this initiative gave us great satisfaction therefore, we wanted to renew this proposal with Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti” he explained Orazio Spoto, president of the Instagramers Italy Association. “The passion for the mountains remains constant, we see it every day in the community. In 2023, we also saw a trend: almost no one wanted to use the tools offered by artificial intelligence. For the moment, content created on site, perceived as authentic, without too much technological mediation is preferred.”

Artificial intelligence itself – in light of the forthcoming introduction of Meta AI for Instagram also on the Italian market – will be the central theme of the workshop “10 tips to make the best use of Instagram in 2024”, held by Orazio Spoto himself on the inauguration day, June 8th. A precious opportunity to keep up to date with the latest news and current trends, while also learning how to promote your projects through the platform. The workshop is open to the public while places last.

How to participate in the “Mountain what a vision” challenge

You share content on your public Instagram profile (photo, carousel, reel or story, as long as it is highlighted). Objective: narrating the mountain, in an authentic and real way, in its infinite facets and without the aid of artificial intelligence tools. The hashtag is used and tag each other @lagazuoidolomiti and @weareigersit. Alternatively, you can also participate with content already published previously, by adding the tag @lagazuoidolomiti and entering . The best proposals will be selected and can be admired on display.
