For the Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna GP, Imola is preparing to welcome many people, ready to enjoy initiatives and events organized and wanted by the city, which will be the setting for what will happen on the track and in the Autodromo. The Fan Zone will have a rich and broad program for all three days of the weekend. Apart from this many activities that will decorate the historic centerwhich will come alive to celebrate the fans’ unforgettable experience. Here is the “FuoriGP” in Imola.
The FuoriGP in Imola: the Fan Zone
In the area adjacent to the central stands, the classic F1 Fan Zone will be set up. An area where enthusiasts can spend moments of leisure between the simulators and the pit stop tests. In addition to this there will be a Ferris wheel from which it will be possible to admire the entire surrounding area of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Autodrome, for a breathtaking view. But the most interesting part will be the stage area, where in addition to the variety of food trucks, you will find many events, which will fill the program over the three days.
They will be there to play and entertain the fans some artists and DJs until Sunday. The activity has already started today with the Fan Zone open to all. From tomorrow however it will only be possible to access with a ticket. On the day of Friday 17 May, space to remember Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, of which an excerpt from the documentary will be shown. Then it will be the drivers’ turn on stage. There will be some insights with the protagonists of the weekend. At 10.55am the Visa Cash App RB F1 Team drivers will take to the stage. Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo, to meet the home crowd.
The McLaren drivers will follow with Lando Norris, fresh from his first F1 victory in the Miami GP, and then those of Williams, Aston Martin and Kick Sauber, to close the morning’s interviews. In the afternoon, starting from 3.35 pm, the Team Principals will be guests. First Mike Krack, of Aston Martin and then Andrea Stella of McLaren.
Saturday 16 May we will continue with interviews with the pilots. From 9.55 in the morning it will be the turn of the standard bearers of Haas, Red Bull and Mercedes, thus also being able to meet Lewis Hamilton, future Ferrari driver in 2025. For the home favorites the slot will be at 10.40 with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz who will talk about their sensations and emotions during the Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna GP.
In the afternoon, at 5.35pmafter the qualifications, there will be a moment dedicated to WOW/ Women Motor. All-female space moderated by Carolina Tedeschi with guests Elena Penazzi, Councilor of the Imola Autodrome, Nadia Padovani Gresini and other personalities who represent the female share of the working world in motorsport. The evening will end with some musical performances and DJ sets.
On Sunday, however, in the Fan Zone there will be space for music and fun. Three DJs will take turns on stage before the start of the race and after the race to close the entire event.
Exhibitions and activities in the historic center
In addition to the activities on the circuit, the city will be the hub of many initiatives, aimed at welcoming all those who will arrive in these days. Motor and non-motor themed stands, photographic and artistic exhibitions, music and lots of fun.
For the event the historic center will be dressed with an ad hoc city dressing. Totems, shop windows, flags and banners themed F1 and Senna, to follow up on the celebrations of last May 1st. This will serve to make the atmosphere around the Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna GP unique, which as you have well understood, is not only raced on the track but throughout the city. The FuoriGP in Imola: a prize for Stefano Domenicali
Today, Thursday 16 May at 6.30 pm in the City Council room, in the town hall of Imola, the delivery ceremony took place, by Mayor Marco Panieri, of the Key to the City of Imola to Stefano Domenicali, from Imola and CEO of F1. The event, open to the public while places last, was already scheduled last year for the 2023 edition of the F1 grand prix, which was then canceled due to the heavy floods that hit the area.
On that occasion the 70 years of activity of the Autodrome would also have been celebrated. This year also marks the twentieth anniversary of the “Grifo Città di Imola” recognition, given to Stefano Domenicali in 2004.
The courage to dream
A special mention, in my opinion, should be made to the event dedicated to school children at the Ebe Stignani Theater in Imola: “The courage to dream”. Its second edition took place this morning, after the debut in 2022 and the cancellation due to floods in 2023. The event once again attracted many young dreamers who listened with interest to the stories and teachings of the guests present.
Stefano Domenicali, CEO F1; Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes AMG Petronas Junior Driver; Andrea Ferrari, Charles Leclerc’s athletic trainer; Riccardo Musconi, Mercedes F1 engineer; Mario Isola, Pirelli Motorsport Director; Rachele Somaschini, rally driver and FFC testimonial and Carlo Vanzini, SKY F1 journalist. Each of them spoke about their experience and their life and professional journey which has led them to play an important role today.
Their stories can be the engine that fuels the dreams of many young people, who one day will want to chase their dreams and make them come true. Never give up, make mistakes and know how to seize the opportunities that life offers you, these are some of the values transmitted to the many kids in the room.
A fair and measured event for what kids need today, so that they don’t give up, but believe that everything is possible. Above all, follow the paths we choose and realize what we love, transforming passion into a job.
