A cultural and food and wine walk to discover the villages of Bergiola Maggiore and Bargana with tastings and local products is scheduled for Sunday 19 May. It is called Borgo in Fiore and it is an initiative, sponsored by the municipal administration, which «was born four years ago – explains Simone Bertelà, promoter of the day and president of the Bergiola association – as part of the valorisation of the villages upstream of the city of Massa, in this case of Mount Brugiana. Borgo in Fiore is the historical representation of how the inhabitants of these towns lived when poverty was widespread. We propose a route inside the village, with the help of the inhabitants to see and taste the traditions of the town and let you breathe the flavors of that time. The walk will also be enlivened by the Canto del Maggio, a typical improvised song accompanied by the accordion, and inside the village you will be able to taste the authentic products of our grandparents: cod fritters, lard, lemons from the village, beans with onions and so on. In this 2024 the association wants to give a tangible and visible sign to the city, because our villages are a resource and should not be forgotten. From the Bergiola square it seems as if you are looking out onto a terrace where you can admire the panorama from the Gulf of La Spezia to the Tuscan islands and be enchanted by the beauty of the area. Participants will be given a glass with relative glass holder for the traveling tastings and there will also be several local producers, including for example Iacopini Miele and the Beatrice, Moretto and Calevro wineries.
