Sanremo will certainly miss, also on an economic and commercial level, the 2024 edition of the Giraglia, one of the most prestigious regattas in the Mediterranean, which this year will not touch the city of flowers.
The loss is certainly a great event, capable of catalyzing the attention of the sailing world around the world and attractive for high-level tourism. But, as confirmed by Palazzo Bellevue, the Municipality is already well on its way to returning the sailing event to Sanremo in 2025.
It was the Councilor for Sport himself, Giuseppe Faraldi, who confirmed it during the program ‘The Sanremo I would like’, broadcast in our newspaper. The Giraglia ‘escaped’ this year in Sanremo after the change of sponsor, from Rolex to Loro Piana, a prestigious Italian cashmere brand owned by the French luxury giant LVMH since 2013. This year we start from Genoa on 7 June, with Sanremo excluded from the route after 14 years.
The Sanremo Yacht Club remains in the organization and the project to bring it back to the city has already been underway for some time. Councilor Faraldi said he was sure that, in 2025, the Giraglia will be able to leave from the city of flowers again.
