Fano, 16 May 2024 – Scattered clouds with possible rain (weak but 60% probable) this afternoon. The forecast they are not the ones hoped for by the organizers, but they certainly won’t ruin the party for the arrival in the city of Tour of Italy. Why Fano is preparing for 12th stage 2024 of the pink cycling race for many days already and the enthusiasm of the many city entities involved is truly through the roof, for this event (tasted once already in 2012) which brings with it not only a moment of great sport, but also of collective fun and entertainment with the national and international spotlight focused on our territory.

Today many shops in the historic center will remain closed due to the difficulties in moving customers and workers, but their shop windows will still offer a show within a show, having all been set up on a theme, with bicycles and rims, pink jerseys and Gazzetta dello Sport sheets inserted among the merchandise to participate in the joy of a city that wants to appear attractive in the media showcase offered by the arrival of the stage Martinsicuro-Fano. For the occasion, the mayor has decided to close all schools, to also allow students to participate in the great race celebration, which will tour all the festively decorated neighborhoods of the city. But this was not the only ordinance issued by the mayor.

To avoid unpleasant incidentsin fact, the Mayor Seri issued a further ordinance yesterday which prohibits, for reasons of public order, the consumption of drinks in glass containers in the arrival area of the stage but also prohibits anyone from “holding, for any purpose, glass containers and objects in general in the area, without prejudice to the needs of the organizers of the event, those of public assistance as well as those of public order”. Specifically, “it is forbidden to serve food and drinks in glass at public establishments located at or near the arrival road route of the stage in an urban area starting from via Cavallotti and up to the arrival point, including viale Gramsci and viale XII Settembre, including the area of the railway station”.

A special recommendation was then given by the local police commander Anna Rita Montagna on the detention of animals, so that they are not left free and that all the necessary measures are put in place so that they do not escape control, with the risk that they could enter the race circuit, creating danger for themselves and for the cyclists. The arrival of the athletes, near the former Paolini barracks (Viale Gramsci) is expected around 4.30 pm and will be preceded by the long pink caravan. The route of the last kilometer is completely cordoned off, access for citizens and visitors to stand in the front rows and watch the arrival of the race is free.

But the party comes alive around 2pm with the symbols of the city’s culture: the masked procession of the Fano Carnival parades led by Vulòn and from Arab music followed by that of the historic group La Pandolface composed of armed men, musicians and flag-wavers. Lots of music and color thanks also to Pink Eventi with a show that wants to bring a message of peace and beauty. Around 3pm, however, the arrival of the Giro E is expected, i.e. the cyclists with pedal-assisted racing bicycles, to let all two-wheel lovers experience the pink race and tackle the route reserved for champions. For any emergency, citizens can contact the Coc- Municipal Operations Center (the structure that ensures the management and coordination of rescue and assistance services to the population within the territory) by calling the number 0721 887911.
