The former general director at Il Tirreno: “If Locatelli’s project goes through, fine. Otherwise I’ll look around. I’m in no hurry to get married.” The Labronica club is in the hands of Esciua, who is harshly contested by the fans
Paolo Giovannini could start again from Livorno. But it’s not said. The former general director of Amaranth, in an interview given to The Tyrrhenian Seaexplained that he had reached an agreement with Andrea Locatelli, the entrepreneur at the head of a consortium that wants to take over the Labronico club. “For now it’s just a handshake – said Giovannini. If the project goes through, I will be the new general manager. Otherwise I’ll look around. I’ve been on the job for 27 consecutive seasons, I’m in no hurry to settle down.”
No reference to his farewell to Arezzo, which occurred suddenly and abruptly, other than one sentence: “I had a multi-year contract, now I have to choose carefully. In Locatelli’s project there are people I respect.”
In Livorno the situation is very tense. The current owner, Joel Esciuaonly bought the company last summer from his predecessor Paolo Toccafondi, after the sporting failure that coincided with Arezzo’s promotion to the Lega Pro. This year there were great expectations, all of which went unfulfilled in a season with a whirlwind of directors, coaches and players. There fans he is on a war footing, he deserted the playoff match in Grosseto (lost 3-2) and is challenging Esciua heavily, to push him to step aside.
Locatelli, from Livorno, however, has a group of entrepreneurs behind him who support him and the support of the public, impatient with the last few disappointing seasons.
