Maurizio Pellegrino, sporting director of the Reggio Calabriaspoke to Amaranth moments on Touring and wanted to touch on issues relating to current amaranth news:

Seeing all those people there in Vibo was an added value, it was a beautiful day. If there are other fans who are close to our reality, it can only be pleasing. It would be nice if everyone was close this week, also for a friendly aspect, it is still the team that represents Reggio Calabria on a football level“.

Adds Pellegrino: “For some time now the team has found self-esteem and certainties, Nino’s words at the end of the match have this meaning. This team has many players from Reggio and they are the ones who try to encourage all their teammates. For everything we went through, it wasn’t easy to do anything, making a playoff final provides a minimum of satisfaction that the club, the team and the technical staff deserve“.

On the differences between rossoblù and aretusei: “Vibonese and Siracusa are two very different teams. Vibonese always tries to play the ball from the bottom, they bring with them automatisms, while Siracusa have greater physicality, have a lot of quality in their departments and have a lot of skill. Siracusa has often won by playing badly. I don’t agree that Siracusa is stronger than Vibonese, but I repeat that they know how to manage moments of the match, they know what to do in difficulties. We want to finish with a great performance. For two months now we have had continuity of performance, the victory over Vibonese allows us to have greater strength“.

On reinforcements for the next championship: “The club is much further ahead than it seems, right now we’re thinking about Sunday. Afterwards there will be intense meetings to start getting to the heart of this team and try to make it as strong as possible, which is the will of the club. This team has changed 15 players since the first match against San Luca, initially we had to lock down the defence, trap the Unders and track them down, counting on the fact that the best had moved on. Today we have a team base on which to graft the right elements to make our team stronger and present ourselves well in advance in view of the D championship“.

On the victory of the Under 17 regional championship “It was a wonderful satisfaction, seeing those boys run, fight and rejoice was truly an emotion. It was a journey that lasted a year which finally ended with victory. There are two or three very interesting prospects in the team“.

On off-field issues: “My biggest dream is to see just one Reggina, a city that becomes one with the team, a city that manages to unite again and can support the amaranth colours. Unfortunately I have to experience an absolute fragmentation which is not good for anyone. Reggio Calabria has always shown great affection and passion towards its team. It doesn’t matter Ballarino or Pellegrino, but what matters is recreating the football system that can bring benefits: if we continue to disunite we will hurt ourselves. Regardless of my presence, I hope that this rebirth is created, it can only be good for the city“.
