Giovanni Malagò is inaugurating the area where the first facilities of the company will be built Citadel of Sport. The president of CONI has in fact accepted the invitation of mayor of Torre del Greco Luigi Mennella and carried out a long inspection in the area owned by the Municipality of almost 100 thousand square meters in Viale Europa, where work will soon begin first on the first city sports hall and then on the municipal swimming pool, both financed with Pnrr funds and already contracted.

The first stone of the sports hall with the relative delivery of the construction site will take place according to the institution’s programs at the beginning of next autumn: “And for the occasion I intend to be there” Malagò told the mayor, in the presence among others of the deputy mayor with delegate for sports facilities Michele Polese, the vice president of the regional council Loredana Raia and the municipal managers for Urban Planning and Sport, Antonio Sarnello and Gennaro Russo. It was they who technically illustrated the projects on paper to the president of Coni, who did not skimp on advice: “I ask you to constantly interface with our technicians – the hope of Giovanni Malagò – in order to avoid making possible errors. We are available for any form of collaboration.”

An invitation seized upon by the mayor, who also spoke of the administration’s intentions to build a new stadium, again in the Viale Europa area: “It will have to have around 6,600 seats, with all the necessary service infrastructures – the words by Luigi Mennella – in order to also host Serie B matches. Times for the start of the works? If everything goes as we planned, I think a couple of years.” When asked by Malagò about the future of Liguori, the mayor did not hesitate: “It will be destined for the minor teams and the teams of the so-called other sports, which are always heavily penalised”.

Malagò was welcomed by a delegation of city athletes and by the Coni representative for the city of Torre del Greco, Liberato Esposito. The tribute from Assocoral, represented by the president Vincenzo Aucella, was very welcome: a cameo engraved with the CONI symbols.

The occasion was also a good one to present the themes of the first city tournament of Torre del Greco, the Under 17 football quadrangular which will take place at the Liguori stadium on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May and in which Inter, Juventus, Milan and Turris will participate.
