A group of students attending the ”Cosimo De Giorgi” Scientific High School in Lecce reported a circular considered ”anomalous and inconsistent” which was published last Friday 10 May by the head teacher of the institute, Raffaele Capone.

As the students observe: ”Although the circular seems to be intended to maximize the students’ commitment, the ways in which it was applied raise doubts, i.e. to the point of contesting the exit of a student accompanied by both parents . Some students, in fact, have pointed out that the inflexible application of the same seems to clash with the contents of Article 13 of the Constitution, which states: No form of detention, inspection or personal search is permitted, nor any other restriction of freedom. personal, if not by reasoned act of the judicial authority and only in the cases and methods provided for by law”.

”The behavior of the school director who physically prevents an adult pupil from leaving school may, depending on the concrete circumstances in which the conduct takes place and, in particular, with how much determination it is carried out, constitute the case of a crime against the person (violence or, in the most serious cases, kidnapping, source: laleggepertutti.it).

”We would like to say – they add – that it is not the first time that our principal has published such a circular, it already happened a year ago and the students’ reaction was not at all pleasant. This year we reached the peak when two boys, despite both being accompanied by their parents, suffered strong resistance to leave from the manager and the janitors. In the end, after an argument, in which the principal demonstrated that he was unable to keep calm, the boys left”.
