THE EAGLE – Saturday 18 May 2024with a civil and religious program, the solemnity of San Pietro Celestino V will be celebrated which occurs on May 19th, at the small church dedicated to the Saint which is located in Paganica along the road that leads to Pescomaggiore.
In the small church there is a relic of Saint Peter Celestine V positioned in a shrine set on the altar by the Metropolitan Archbishop of L’Aquila Cardinal Giuseppe Petrocchi on 1 February 2020.
The program of the day includes a performance at 9.00 by the City of Paganica Band Complex in Piazza della Concezione, in front of the monumental fountain of Sant’Antonio a Paganica and in the square in front of the church.
At 10.00 am the Holy Mass will be celebrated inside the Church of San Pietro Celestino V by the Parish Priest of Paganica Don Dionisio Rodriguez with musical accompaniment by the violinist Andrea Petricca, Francesco dell’Oso (piano) and the mezzo-soprano Lisa Brandolini.
At 11.00 the highlight of the day with the presentation of the book “San Pietro Celestino V in Paganica – between History, Stories and Legend”, written by Raffaele Alloggia who carried out in-depth research on the history of the church. The journalist Giustino Parisse will moderate the meeting and, in addition to the author Raffaele Alloggia, the Vice Mayor of L’Aquila Raffaele Daniele and the President of the Cultural Association “La Fenice” of Paganica, Luca Centofanti, will be present.
