Three meetings on the art of restoration – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. From 16 to 30 May, for three consecutive Thursdays, we will investigate the lesser-known aspects of the restoration of three different monumental assets of L’Aquila in L’Aquila. The series of meetings, entitled Inside the restoration”, conceived by the Mic regional secretariat for Abruzzo and created with the Human Sciences department of Univaq, the Superintendency of archaeology, fine arts and landscape L’Aquila-Teramo, Friars Minor of San Giuliano, AquilArtes and Maxxi L’Aquila , will start on Thursday at 3pm in the church of San Silvestro, where Professor Michele Maccherini it will explain the history of the powerful Branconio family and the precious Chapel which also saw Raphael at work. Restoration is “a technical operation intended to reintegrate the compromised or deteriorated details of a work of art or objects considered artistic or valuable, or to ensure their conservation”. This work of protection and recovery of cultural heritage in the L’Aquila area is a daily commitment that unfolds along a complex path, full of challenges and with sometimes surprising results. On May 23rd, again at 3 pm, we will go up to the Convent of San Giuliano, where spirituality and art show themselves in extraordinary harmony. Welcomed by Sofia Leocatayou will arrive at the Conventino built in 1415, the heart of observant Franciscanism in Abruzzo, where Saverio Ricci will tell how much the restoration has revealed of its precious decorative elements. The closing event will be hosted by Maxxi L’Aquila: Silvia La Pergola, Claudia Reale, Franco De Vitis And Carlo Lufranoin a four-way conversation they will illustrate the technical-design path that led from Palazzo Ardinghelli to Maxxi, giving life and role back to a building that had lost its beauty and function (Thursday 30 May at 3pm).
