MASSA-CARRARA – «We need an overall vision that carries out a serious territorial policy, capable of transforming the legitimate concerns of the Mayors into concrete actions capable of protecting all the interests in the field. Interests that are not of “Carrara” or “Massa”, but highly interdependent, just think of the importance of the Port of Marina di Carrara with regards to the former Pignone “Baker Huges” factory and the importance of the Massa coastline for the entire Apuan area”. This is the thoughts of Azione Massa on the situation of the port of Marina di Carrara, in a summary expressed by the provincial secretary Riccardo Pelliccia.
«Action identifies the real danger; that is, the failure to obtain approval of the Marina di Carrara port master plan and not even a multi-year plan to combat coastal erosion which affects from Lavello up to Forte dei Marmi. Azione believes that approving the master plan for the Port of Marina di Carrara is just as important as saying, clearly, that there will be no restrictions on bathing limits and that the protocol signed at the Chamber of Commerce regarding the fight against erosion, will have the funding and will be implemented. It is essential that the issue of fighting erosion has the ability to produce absolute efficiency because in recent months we have witnessed, despite the protocol being signed, a whole series of problems that must be overcome. Azione will work at an institutional level on the topic, engaging its representatives in local authorities”.
