BARI. The candidate for mayor of the centre-right of Bari, the Northern League member Fabio Romito, hosted the deputy prime minister and leader of the League Matteo Salvini in Puglia at the headquarters of its electoral committee in Corso Vittorio Emanuele for a series of meetings including book presentations and European elections. A participatory meeting in which Salvini spoke only and exclusively about the future of Bari, nipping in the bud the controversy over the lack of the League logo in the lists for the Bari municipal elections.

«There is a candidate registered with the League, there are many civic candidates who love the city. For me, before the party, the future of the city comes. This applies in Bari as it applies in all the cities where we are running either directly as a League list or with civic lists supporting the League’s candidates. I go for substance rather than form” commented Matteo Salvini.

«After so many years – he added – Bari finally has the chance to change. Then I repeat as for the European elections, for the preferences for Vannacci and Salis, also for the municipality of Bari or for the municipality of Lecce they choose the citizens, so I can’t wait for this 9th of June to arrive because I am convinced, turning the ‘Italy, that the League will be the nice surprise of the European elections because there is a great desire for change.”

During the event in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, however, there was no trace of General Roberto Vannacci, who arrived in the afternoon for a meeting at Villa Romanazzi again with Salvini.

«Why are Emiliano and De Luca terrified of autonomy? Because autonomy means taking off the mask, it makes citizens understand who is a good governor and who has taken the vote for years and hasn’t done things. If there is a problem in the hospital in Bari, it is not the fault of Romito, Salvini, the League or the autonomy which does not exist. It’s the fault of governors who took their votes and didn’t solve the problems. If things don’t work in Bari it’s not due to bad luck. In Bari the left took the vote for 50 years and did nothing” he added Salvini during the meeting with the centre-right mayoral candidate Fabio Romito.
