International Nurses Day was also celebrated in Taranto with an event organized on Monday 13 May in the auditorium of the Uniba Ionian department in via Duomo.
“Let’s nourish health” is the slogan chosen by the National Federation of Nursing Professions for the Day in which, throughout the world, the nursing profession is celebrated, a tribute to Florence Nightingale, born on 12 May 1820 in Florence and considered the mother of modern nursing. Also in Taranto it was an opportunity to reflect on the extremely strategic figure of the nurse, during a real journey into the nursing discipline characterized by a series of interventions and a final multi-voiced debate on the future of the profession.
Introducing and coordinating the work was the president of OPI Taranto, Pierpaolo Volpe, who had the ability to bring together representatives of the healthcare, political and trade union world for a 360-degree discussion which served to enhance the daily commitment made by the profession to develop a citizen-friendly health system.
