“Government must no longer send weapons to Israel”

In Turin students occupied the university in support of Palestine. Here too, as in the rest of the world and in several Italian cities, students have set up tents.

Turin students demonstrate against the invasion of Rafah

The Turin university students of the Collettivo Autonomo Universitario (CUA) they decided to occupy Palazzo Nuovo, the Physics faculty and the Polytechnic. A symbolic occupation, made up of a dozen tents that were placed at the entrance to the universities or to shelter from the rain inside the entrance halls.

“Just as students from other countries have begun to do – Mohamed, a first year medical student in Turin, explains to Fanpage.it – we occupy to protest against the unacceptable invasion of Rafah, where almost two million people liveby the Israeli army. But there’s more, we also want to protest against the Italian government which sends weapons to the Israeli army.”

“This occupation, as well as the occupation of other universities – says Sara, of the Autonomous University Committee – it will last at least until Saturday 18 May, when there will be a large demonstration in Turinuntil the government stops supplying weapons and takes a stand against the genocide of the Palestinian population.”

Palazzo Nuovo is the seat of the humanities faculties, the Polytechnic and the Physics faculty. This morning they were occupied by university students opposed to the invasion of Gaza and the siege of Rafah by the Palestinian army. Tents were placed at the entrance to the Turin university of Palazzo Nuovo and a short demonstration peacefully “invaded” the Luigi Einaudi University Campus to interrupt lessons. A protest similar to those that occurred in other Italian universities and around the world.
