It took place this morning, in Hall of Mirrors of the Province Palace, the Press Conference of presentation of the 16th edition of the Tre Mari Trophy, the most important volleyball event in Southern Italy which sees the participation of six regions – Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily – which, with their regional men’s and women’s representatives, will compete in Camigliatello and San Giovanni in Fiore (home of the finals), from June 21st to 23rd.
Present at the meeting were the President of the Province and Mayor of San Giovanni in Fiore, Rosaria Succurro; the Mayor of Spezzano della Sila, Salvatore Monaco; the President of the FIPAV Calabria Regional Committee (Italian Volleyball Federation), Carmelo Sestito and his counterparts from Campania, Guido Pasciari; of Puglia, Paolo Indiveri; of Sicily, Antonio Locandro; and Basilicata, Enzo Santomassimo. Councilors of the FIPAV Calabria Regional Committee, the Presidents of the Provincial Committees and the President of CIP Calabria (Italian Paralympic Committee) also participated.
President Succurro spoke of “an extended press conference, which we have the honor of hosting in this splendid hall of the Palazzo della Provincia because I wanted to sponsor this important initiative. There is a dialogue and discussion for some time now between the Provincial Authority and FIPAV, aware of the fact that, alongside the sporting and competitive side, there is the great opportunity that is given to the territories in terms of promotion and enrichment. We have a splendid Calabria and a wonderful South and this is why I have understood since I took office give value to the promotion of the territory“.
Rosaria Succurro also spoke about tourism as a driving force for growth in the area, underlining that “even through sports tourism, many athletes, professionals, companions, simple enthusiasts can arrive who can visit our places and then return, generating that fundamental economy indispensable for growth”.
On the same wavelength is the Mayor of Spezzano della Sila Salvatore Monaco, who did not fail to underline the presence in Spezzano della Sila and Camigliatello of beautiful structures ready to host many tourists and “these are truly important activities for our localities in Sila, with a high tourist vocation, and deserve support and support from the local administrations”.
The regional president of FIPAV Calabria, Carmelo Sestito, acknowledged the opening of “an important season for the Calabrian Committee, in which Sila remains the central point of a wide-ranging inter-regional event which positively influences hotel accommodation and the entire tourism sector”. Finally, the FIPAV Campania Regional President Guido Pasciari brought his personal greetings and those of the other Presidents present in the room, underlining that “we strongly wanted to resume this tradition of the Tre Mari Trophy, which is fundamental at a youth level”.
