Sanremo, fishing vessel sinks: fisherman saved by migrant

SANREMO – A near tragedy today in the old port of Sanremo, when a ten meter long fishing boat suddenly sank in the surrounding waters. The only fisherman on board was saved thanks to the timely intervention of a Bangladeshi foreigner, who, observing the scene from the dock, jumped into the sea to rescue him.

The young man dived into the sea and brought the man on board, a 75-year-old fisherman, to safety up to the cliff.

Immediately after the incident, a lookout from the Guardia di Finanza and medical personnel intervened on the scene and provided initial treatment to the fisherman before transferring him to the Borea hospital in Sanremo for checks. The man does not appear to be in mortal danger.

Luckily There are no other people involved in the accidentalthough the causes of the sinking of the vessel are still unclear.
