LAST CAPTAIN TO OFENA: “WE HAVE AN IDEA OF A DIFFERENT APPROACH OF EUROPE”

In the long-awaited meeting in Ofena Sergio De Caprio, known as Captain Ultimo, outlined a bold vision for the Europe of the future. In an exclusive interview with Maria Trozzi, investigative journalist, De Caprio expressed his support for Dino Rossi, candidate in the European elections for the Southern constituency with Cateno De Luca’s ‘Libertà’ civic list.

De Caprio underlined the need for a change of direction, criticizing the traditional approach of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which sees agricultural contributions as a gift from above, rather than an active partnership in rethinking and redesigning the territory. He proposes a new model in which economic plans and financing are agreed and defined at a local level, through ‘habitat’ contracts involving mayors, farmers and economic operators.

A key point of his proposal is the active involvement of public universities in free tutoring for communities and local authorities, in order to develop projects aimed at the real needs of the territories.

On the issue of security, De Caprio announced a bold proposal, defined by the media as a ‘shock proposal’. In fact, he proposes to deprive the political rights and access to work of the mafiosi and their first and second degree relatives who continue to help and support family members involved in criminal activities, unless they demonstrate total detachment from them.

Concluding his speech, De Caprio highlighted the need for a clear and decisive battle against criminal organisations, inviting everyone to take the side of those who want to dissolve the gangs and re-establish legality.

The event in Ofena therefore promises to be a crucial moment in the electoral campaign, marking a turning point in the approach to European politics and the fight against organized crime.
