Yara, Bossetti’s lawyers “re-examine” the findings

Five years after making the request, this afternoon Massimo Bossetti’s defense will be able to view, for the first time, the exhibits linked to the murder of Yara Gambirasio, the 13-year-old from Brembate (Bergamo) for whose murder Bossetti was definitively sentenced to life imprisonment. After a long battle in the Supreme Court, which ended last February, the lawyers Claudio Salvagni and Paolo Camporini they only snatched the opportunity to observe the victim’s clothes and the DNA tests which sparked a bitter clash with the prosecution.

Hearing behind closed doors, at 3pm, in the Court of Assizes in Bergamo: Bossetti, as far as we know, will participate via video link from the Bollate prison, in the province of Milan, while his defenders will view together with their consultants what has remained sealed in a box for years. In particular, the underwear on which the mixed genetic trace was found, of the victim and of the then Unknown 1, considered the main evidence against Bossetti; then the sweatshirt that Yara Gambirasio wore on November 26, 2010, the day of her disappearance; finally, the jacket that the girl had in the Chignolo d’Isola camp where she was found lifeless three months later.

“Finally after 5 years from the authorization – the lawyer Salvagni told the agency Adnkronos – we are shown the finds, even if the authorization of 27 November 2019 allowed us to analyze them: it is clear that we cannot be satisfied, but it is a first step forward, given that during the trial they were not even shown to us”. “We will check that all the finds and their state of conservation are there – concludes Massimo Bossetti’s defender -. We hope to be able to grasp some important details from the photographic shots and then we will evaluate what to do to overturn the DNA result which we have always rejected as incorrect.”
