The economic crisis which has involved practically the whole world, with evident effects especially on our country, which did not enjoy a rosy situation before, is worrying finance experts all over the world. The reason is simple: price increases, inflation, cuts to salaries and services, skyrocketing unemployment rates. However, there are still territories that are coping with this crisis.

An investigation by Il Messaggero takes a closer look at the situation. Our country, without making any particular distinctions between north and south, is facing an unprecedented economic crisis. Which also spills over into smaller territories and not just into big cities.

We could talk about common alarm. According to the Ifel association, there are several municipalities that if the situation does not fall within the norm, will be forced in the future to make various cuts on services, some even fundamental.

A very serious fact is the fact that 4,037 out of approximately 6,600 municipalities belonging to the regions with ordinary statute will perhaps have to cut approximately 650 million. Yet we were saying there are still territories that enjoy a fairly prosperous situation. Il Messaggero has drawn up a real ranking and the winner is the lovely municipality of Lajatico.

An interesting podium, because the small Pisan municipality, known among other things for being the birthplace of the tenor Andrea Bocelli, is also the only territory in central Italy to appear in the ranking, which unsurprisingly mainly features municipalities from northern Italy. In second place we find Basiglio, followed by Bogogno, Portofino and Varenna. Further down we find Cusago, Galliate and Torre d’Isola. They close the ranking unexpectedly Segrate and Pieve Ligure.

The pretty town of Lajatico

This is the first time that Lajatico is in first position in this ranking. According to many, the fact that the tenor Bocelli still lives here would have contributed significantly to raising the per capita income. Today it amounts to 52,377 euros.

A truly beautiful place like many in the Tuscany region, which stands on a hill at 550 meters, and an important medieval fiefdom in the past. Local pride is in the famous Rocca di Pietracassia. It is a fine example of early medieval architecture. In ancient times from here you could reach the road that led to Montecatini and its copper mines. It apparently owes its name to a crack in the rock.

In addition to preserving much of Tuscan beauty and culture, Lajatico is also famous for its rich natural component. From here there are several paths where you can go hiking, cycling or, if you prefer, on horseback.

A very famous route that extends for about 800 meters, which leads up to Theater of Silence, from where you can admire a unique panorama. Nearby there are two avenues of cypress trees, one known as Traccia della Madonna, the other as Quercia al santo.
