One more month, just one month of waiting and then another section of the Via Don Blasco can be covered. It will be the one that will allow you to travel from Zir to via Santa Cecilia without any interruption. Another piece that fits into a puzzle that is now almost complete. «By mid-June we will be able to open this section of connection», say councilor Mondello and works director Antonio Rizzo in unison.
The works in the former Rifotras area, after some initial slowdown, are now moving at a brisk pace and if there are no hitches they will be complete within a few weeks. They will make it possible to join via Maregrosso with the Zaera roundabout, reaching the completion of 85% of the 3.8 km route, whose construction began in 2018. In fact, the southernmost sections, therefore that of via Franza and of the long straight line of the new commercial area, with the Viale Europa area ready for almost two years, but without a connection.
One of the two fronts of the construction site is the one that is building the road where for years there was a car dismantling company. For about a year now the Municipality has finally had full possession of that area. The soil analysis revealed that in some, albeit marginal parts, there were traces of pollution. But fortunately these are areas that do not coincide with the road route and which have been isolated and will be treated at a later date.
Now the entrance adjacent to the Messina Servizi headquarters has been freed and also the one on the side of the Zaera roundabout. In the middle the workers work to create the two lanes that will lead from via Maregrosso to the roundabout which will allow either to go up (but also down) onto viale Europa or to continue up to via Santa Cecilia, practically one step away from the end of via Don Blasco.
