The MARR Group he relied on Scania technology for zero-emission transport serving the commercial and collective catering in the Lombardy region.

With over 50 years of experience, MARR represents a point of reference for catering operators, proposing itself as a single supplier on a national scale of a wide range of products with various types of conservation (frozen, fresh, at room temperature). Today, the MARR Group boasts over 1,000 employees, 950 sales technicians, 1,100 service and goods handling workers and a network of consignees with over 950 vehicles, of which over 600 with low environmental impact (LGN, CNG and Euro 6).

Aware of its ethical and social responsibility, MARR has long considered sustainability as an active part of company dynamics. Sustainability values are promoted along the value chain, through the selection of supply sources and service partners, the optimization of processes and the concrete contribution to respecting the environment and safeguarding ecosystems.

Among the priorities on the agenda, MARR intends make its distribution and logistics operations more efficient by reducing emissions also through an ever-increasing use of low environmental impact vehicles. Favored by an innate capacity for innovation and development, iThe Group has launched the first 100% electric delivery service to offer timely, accurate and, starting from April 2024, zero-emissions transport within the Lombardy region. MARR is carrying out this through a distribution partner with which it has an established relationship deliveries with a 100% electric Scania equipped for temperature-controlled transport. The chosen vehicle is ideal for urban operating contexts, by virtue of its silence and safety devices including the City Safe Window positioned on the passenger side door for more effective visibility of vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists. Furthermore, to always guarantee optimal performance, the vehicle has been combined with a FULL maintenance and repair contract which also includes coverage for the batteries with a total installed capacity of 300 kWh.

The 100% electric transport project immediately envisaged the rcreation of a charging infrastructure at the MARR platform in Marzano (Pavia). Scania, following a careful operational analysis calibrated on the client’s needs and delivery planning, proved to be the ideal partner also thanks to the solid relationship between Michele Marchetti (General Director of Scania Adriatica) and the MARR distribution operator involved in the project. Thus, the synergy with MARR was also established, which then identified the solution proposed by Scania as the most appropriate: an All-in-one station that offers continuous charging power of up to 120 kW prepared with two CCS2 type plugs optimized for heavy vehicles.
