Countdown to the start of the 43rd edition of the rhistorical evocation of the Sword Race and Palio. Camerino already shows its most beautiful appearance with the colors of the three thirds flying through the streets and neighborhoods of the city.
Official opening on May 15th with the ribbon cutting of the “Camerino viva” exhibition, a selection of shots curated by the Progetto Immagine photographic club which will embellish a space in the historic centre. The “Dinner of the Thousand” will follow in the former City Park space in via Madonna delle Carceri (in case of bad weather the dinner will take place inside the three taverns).
“A large table opens the party – says the president of the Sword and Palio Race, Donatella Pazzelli – as has been tradition for many years now. The districts of Sossanta, Di Mezzo and Muralto take care of the setting up and preparation of the dishes that will be served in this dinner shared with the student population of the city and with the many friends who come to Camerino for the occasion”.
“The Italian Touring Club dedicated a beautiful service to our historical re-enactment today and yes, in Camerino we are ready for a journey through time”, adds the president.
From May 16th the taverns will operate at full capacity in their respective locations (Sossanta and Di Mezzo in via Madonna delle Carceri and Muralto in piazza Umberto I) and will begin a whole series of events that will continue until May 26th, the day of the historical procession, the pink relay and the sword race.
In particular, on the afternoon of Thursday 16th we will talk about Tora Trinci Varano, aunt of Giulia Cesare Varanoprominent leader of the family and lord of the Camerte territory (“A casa di Tora Trinci Varano” presentation of the book by Laura Giuli – 5.30 pm Council room) and in the evening the Kronos Acrobatic Theater group will present the new work “Divina Kommedia” (10pm Sottocorte Village).
Also on May 16th, at the Camerino pro loco, the event will begin sale of colored bracelets that allow access to the historic center to experience in person the passage of the procession through the heart of the city on Sunday 26 May.
The public will be able to attend the 43rd edition of the Sword Race and Palio for free in Piazza San Venanzio, where a large screen will also be positioned to follow the entire event, along part of the route and in the Rocca del Borgia/Piazzale Ludovico Clodio (big screen), while in the squares in the center there is a limited entrance fee: Piazza Cavour (red bracelet – big screen) Piazza Caio Mario (green bracelet), Piazza Garibaldi (yellow bracelet) and Piazza Umberto I (blue bracelet).
