Treviso, Condifesa: “The increase in the cost of money is worrying for farmers” | Today Treviso | News

TREVISO – From 2019 to 2023, the turnover went from 36.5 million to around 65. This is due to how much it cost farmers to insure their harvest in a context of climate emergency. The Condifesa TVB Consortium (Treviso, Vicenza and Belluno) to facilitate its members advances the payment of premiums to insurance companies on their behalf: from the 2023 budget it emerges that compared to 2019 the cost of these advances of premiums to insurance companies is almost tenfold.

These are the numbers of the last general assembly during which the political balance sheet for the three-year period 2021-23 of the TVB Condifesa Consortium (Treviso-Vicenza-Belluno) which brings together over 7 thousand agricultural companies was illustrated. The president of Condifesa TVB was present Valerio Nadal, director Filippo Codatothe regional councilor for agriculture Federico Caner, the president Cia Treviso Salvatore Feletti, the director Confagricoltura Treviso Silvio Barbon, the director Coldiretti Vicenza Simone Ciampoli, the director Coldiretti Treviso Giuseppe Satalino and the vice president Coldiretti Vicenza Cristina Zen.

President Nadal underlined how “the drastic increase in money accompanied by a delay in the timing of disbursement of public contributions by Agea has increased the financial costs which have gone from 400 thousand euros to over two million”. Nadal also focused on meteorological risks: “they are constantly growing in a context of climate change both in terms of the frequency and intensity of the phenomena recorded which have compromised important parts of the harvest. One for all we mention the 2023 hailstorms which affected over 70 percent of the associated companies. Our goal is to protect the farmer’s income.” In his speech, councilor Caner expressed full satisfaction with the work that the Consortium is carrying out. “You have been concrete, through valid planning, in investing in innovative projects, among which mutual funds should be highlighted, which are one of the tools for dealing with risk management. On our part we have full support and collaboration.”

Director Codato recalled all the work done in recent years through the weekly phytosanitary bulletin which reaches 8 thousand members, providing them with information on the management of agronomic and phytosanitary interventions. “The Bodi and Fenometeo Bodi projects should be remembered, the national Screws in the field fair with innovative machines operating in the field. The interregional phytoiatric forum and the scholarships thanks to which the students of the Cerletti institute of Conegliano and Trentin of Lonigo who have been able to distinguish themselves with research on current topics in agriculture are rewarded”.
