“The mystique of the road and the Gospel of joy and mercy. The church according to Pope Francis” this is the title of a recent volume written by Mons. Salvatore Rumeo, Bishop of Noto, which will be presented on May 14th in Modica.

As part of the celebrations of the Madonna delle Grazie, the book by the Bishop of Noto Mons. Salvatore Rumeo will be presented in Modica on Tuesday 14 May. The volume will be presented by Domenico Pisana, moral theologian and President of the Quasimodo Literary Café in Modica.

The event will be held at 8.00 pm in the Hall of the Casa del Pellegrino della Madonna delle Grazie.

“The road – states Monsignor Salvatore Rumeo in his book – is life, and life is embodied on the roads of men of all times without any distinction. The church, in its centuries-old experience, has never stopped living and practicing pilgrimage… Pilgrimage is a divine journey, it is a metaphor for daily life” (…) Mercy is an indispensable resource for this world of ours. It is the treasure that the world does not possess, it is those sparks that also live in the hearts of men, but which are difficult to make flare up. This is why – continues Rumeo – Christianity is indispensable to the world. Provided, obviously, that Christians nourish the light that they have received as a gift, that is, love and mercy. Love for others, mercy for the weak, are proof that the Father’s love is in us.”
