Caccuri Award, the four finalists announced

There are four finalists for the Caccuri Literary Prize, now in its thirteenth edition.

This is Alessandro Giuli, with the volume Gramsci é alive, published by Rizzoli; Paolo Mieli, with The Authoritarian Century.
Because the good guys never win (Rizzoli); Sigfrido Ranucci, with La scuola (Bompiani) and Barbara Stefanelli, with Love harder.

The Iranian girls walk in front of us (Solferino). The finalists of the award were announced by the president of the jury, Giordano Bruno Guerri, during a press conference at the Turin Book Fair.

“The Caccuri Prize – said Bruno Guerri during the meeting – is the Calabria of millenary traditions that intertwine: from the Magna Graecia imprint to the pages of Saverio Strati and Corrado Alvaro, passing through the Middle Ages of Gioacchino da Fiore.
This year the recognition, as always, tells the story of the times we live in through four protagonists of the cultural and social life of our country. There have been 13 editions of an award that has become a point of reference in the Italian intellectual panorama. Caccuri is a place for comparing ideas, an agora in the heart of the South”.

According to Adolfo Barone, the president of the Accademia dei Caccuriani, the association that organizes the award, “this is the thirteenth edition of the award which revolves around four essayists of great importance, four journalists who have been able to go beyond the news, making of in-depth analysis a strong point. The Caccuri Literary Prize is a festival of culture tout court in which books dialogue with theatre, music, performing arts, food and wine, local habits and customs. It is an extraordinary Calabria that calls together brilliant minds and ideas to promote the culture and beauty of an unparalleled land.”
