San Marino Baseball’s afternoon defeat is condensed into three swings of the bat. Aloma’s bases full double on Pomponi in the 3rd, Mercuri’s bases full double on Luca Di Raffaele in the 5th and Giordani’s home run on Pascoli in the 6th. Three three-pointers, for nine total scores that launch BSC Grosseto towards their first victory of the season and San Marino towards their second defeat. More valid serves (9 to 8) but fewer points scored (5 to 10) for the Titans in a match that saw the home team always ahead. A knockout that hurts after a record-breaking game 1. In the second match the Italian pitching mound could not withstand the impact of the local bats, having difficulty with all the pitchers proposed by Doriano Bindi.
After Grosseto’s 1-0 in the 1st, which arrived on an error by Alvarez with two men in point position, in the 2nd the game immediately split in two: with the bases full, Aloma’s double scored the 4th -0. San Marino closes between 3rd and 5th, but also wastes a lot. At the 3rd, Diaz’s hit makes it 1-4, but the inning ends with the bases full. In the 4th no runs, but still bases full. At the 5th two-run home run by Alvarez but a possible tie point that remains in third (3-4). It is the moment in which the teams are closest and San Marino seems to be able to turn it around, but in the bottom of the 5th BSC scores another three points with a double from Mercuri (7-3). At the change of ends, two sacrifice flies by Tromp and Batista generate the scores of -2 (5-7), but Grosseto in the following attack definitively closes the issue with Giordani’s three-run home run for 10-5.
