Today, for all mothers in the world, marks an important day. Like every year, on the second Sunday of May, Mother’s Day is celebrated. An anniversary which, in addition to paying homage to motherhood, also brings with it a series of unmissable initiatives of various kinds, including festivals and exhibitions. Here are all the events in Italy not to be missed to celebrate mothers.
Belvedere Terrace, Milan
To celebrate all the mothers in the world, Palazzo Lombardia in Milan has decided to open its doors to all those who wish to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Milanese city. The initiative is called Belvedere Experience and allows the public to go up to the 39th floor of the Milanese skyscraper, from which to admire the fascinating skyline. It is possible to participate only by reservation, in the time slot from 10am to 6pm.
Orticola 2024, Milan
For all mothers who love nature, the 27th edition of Horticultural Market Exhibition, the famous Milanese event dedicated to plants and flowers. Among nurserymen, gardeners and exhibitors, the event aims not only to create a floral spectacle of shapes and colors, but also to promote environmental sustainability. This year entry will be free up to 17 years old and discounted from 18 to 29 years old.
Cézanne and Renoir exhibition, Milan
On the occasion of Mother’s Day it will also be possible to visit the exhibition itinerary in the rooms of Palazzo Reale Cézanne/Renoir. Masterpieces from the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d’Orsay. Through a series of 52 works from both prestigious Parisian museums, the exhibition investigates the production of the two great impressionist masters. Among iconic paintings, portraits, landscapes, still lifes and bathers, the itinerary represents a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in art, perhaps in the company of your mother.

Museum of Dreamers, Rome
For all the big dreamers, here is the perfect event: Museum of Dreamers in Rome. Open until May 18, the artistic project allows the public to immerse themselves in the beauty of the dream world thanks to a series of immersive installations dedicated to the imagery of dreams. The exhibition itinerary finds space in the suggestive Pratibus District in Rome.
Mamma Sport, Cinecittà World
In the iconic cinema and TV park of Rome, on May 12th, the Mamma Sport event will take place, dedicated to all modern, sporty and dynamic mothers. Among attractions, themed areas, live shows and free playgrounds in which to try out the main individual and team sports, the initiative brings together all the most important disciplines: from kung fu to basketball, up to baseball and beach volleyball.
Tolkien exhibition, Naples
The exhibition dedicated to the unforgettable British writer John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, “father” of one of the most famous sagas of fantasy literature, is being staged in the spaces of Palazzo Reale in Naples: The Lord of the Rings. Titled Tolkien. Man, professor, authorthe exhibition itinerary retraces the universe of the great author, including autograph manuscripts, letters, memorabilia, photographs and works of art inspired by his masterpieces.
Fellini exhibition, Naples
In the spaces of the Al Blu di Prussia gallery in Naples there is an exhibition dedicated to the great Federico Fellini. Titled Federico Fellini. Erotic drawings – Photographs from the set, the exhibition brings together a selection of fascinating shots which, taken by photographer Patrizia Mannajuolo, immortalize the director’s most beautiful moments on set. Together with the images, we also find numerous drawings from the collection of Daniela Barbiani, Fellini’s niece and assistant director in his last four films, from And the ship goes to The voice of the moon.
Rose Festival 2024, Avegno
Moving into the Genoese hinterland, precisely in the hamlet of Salto di Avegno (in the province of Genoa), we find the 23rd edition of the Rose Festival. Scheduled for Mother’s Day weekend, the event hosts a series of food stands offering the best local specialties, from Ligurian focaccia to pesto. The absolute protagonist of the event is the rose, which will be offered as a gift to all the women present at the event.
Mother’s Heart 2024, Vigolzone
On Mother’s Day, in Vigolzone (in the province of Piacenza) there is the Cuore di Mamma Fair, the initiative which – from morning until evening – animates the streets and squares of the town with numerous stalls, rides, markets and street games for children.
