URBINO Under the Torricini there are historic administrative elections: the first after Urbino was recognized as the provincial capital. This has led to a unique situation in Italy in which Urbino will go to the vote with the rules of a municipality with over 15 thousand residents but for the mayor Maurizio Gambini it was possible to run for the third time as the city does not reach that number of inhabitants.

However, the uniqueness will have a cost because from 15 councilors and 6 councilors we go to 32 councilors and 9 councillors, one municipal councilor for every 430 inhabitants. The greatest financial costs will concern function allowances and additional attendance fees, presumably at 56,833 euros per month. Three lists were organized in support of Gambini: the coalition La città concrete fielded 83 candidates. Without too much fanfare, the increase in costs was pointed out by the other two candidates in the race: Federico Scaramucci for the centre-left, supported by the Pd, Urbino Bene Comune, Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, Movimento 5 Stelle, Lista Giovanelli Urbino Rinasce, Sinistra per Urbino and Urbino Città d’Europa and Francesca Maria Crespini back on track with the civic Futura and 32 young candidates and with a large female component.
