Fibromyalgia, around 8,500 people from Piacenza suffer from it: “Disease still invisible”

Today we celebrate World Health Day fibromyalgia. It is estimated that they are approx 8,500 people from Piacenza are suffering of this pathology that is still little known, but which is in all respects disabling.

The refresher course organized yesterday morning by the Order of Doctors of Piacenza at the Catholic University served to provide the right advice, first of all to recognize this invisible enemy.

Opening of the event entrusted to Maurizio Contini of the Piacenza Medical Association, then the day begins moderated by doctors Eugenio Arrigoni and Luigi Cella.
Sneaky enemy fibromyalgia, as Arrigoni clarified: “In our territory we potentially have 8,500 patients, on average, in fact, those affected by fibromyalgia syndrome are 2-3% as far as national estimates are concerned. Unfortunately, despite the large number of patients, it is still a so-called “invisible” disease, because existing treatments are not effective and due to the fact that a process for the recognition of the disease at parliamentary level has been in place for years. A long, difficult journey, and this day really wants to highlight it to make it official and so that it is no longer considered invisible.”
