Switzerland triumphs at Eurovision 2024: Nemo’s victory with The Code. Angelina Mango off the podium

Switzerland won the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest by sweeping the juries’ vote and obtaining enough points from the televoting to defend first place. The victory goes to Nemo, the stage name of Nemo Mettler, a 25-year-old non-binary singer, who brought in competition The Code. This is the third success for the Swiss after those of 1956 and 1988, and they will therefore host the next edition. Only 104 votes for Angelina Mango from the televoting, while a great leap forward was made by Israel, which obtained 323 points, Ukraine 307, Croatia 337 and France 227. After the protests outside the Arena and inside the arena during the performance of the Israeli singer, not even the moment of reading the vote passed without small incidents. The first boos were heard when he was framed at the moment of starting the announcement of the juries’ votes with the usual “Good to go”. And they then continued during the individual announcements, every time Israel took preferences and stronger when the Israeli juror had to express those of her country. Among the spokesmen, there were also some defections among the jurors from Finland, Norway and the Netherlands. Switzerland received the majority of the preferences of the various countries, also awarded with 12 points by the Italian delegation. Boredom by Angelina Mango has always been among the top five most voted, together with France, Croatia and Ireland with which it competed for the podium, finishing fourth with 164 points. The televoting rewarded Israel and Ukraine, causing the Italian singer to slip to seventh place overall.
