concrete actions for the protection of the marine environment. Reading the fable
‘Capaci: Rocco and the Kingdom of Octopuses’ proved to be an effective tool
in promoting the development of fundamental education skills
citizenship and constitution among young participants. During two
weeks dedicated to civic education, the topics addressed through the
reading the text included the courage to make decisions and the
environment protection. Particular emphasis was placed on the topic
of environmental protection, aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda,
to promote awareness among children regarding the need for
protect and conserve our planet. The goal is to
instill in young people the awareness of protecting the environment
implies the reduction of human impact, the protection of habitats, the
conservation of biodiversity and the guarantee of clean water and air for
all living species. The children also had the opportunity to
delve deeper into the figure of Angelo Vassallo, fisherman mayor, who has
played a key role in starting the Clean Up initiative
Seabeds in 2010 in Cilento. This innovative ecological project,
cultural and economic involves fishermen who, rather than being lost at sea
of the waste trapped in their nets, they recover them for the correct one
land disposal. Angelo Vassallo was a precursor in
understanding the importance of those principles, for which he fought
with determination until the end of his days. In this context, the
Angelo Vassallo Mayor Pescatore Foundation continues to play a role
crucial in promoting environmental culture and supporting initiatives
concrete measures for the protection of marine ecosystems. His commitment to
search for truth and justice, combined with his fight for
protection of creation and the diffusion of beauty, represents a
inspiring example for present and future generations. We thank the

“Even in Casalnuovo di Napoli, on the occasion of legality day,
at the Raffaele Viviani Comprehensive Institute, a commendable event took place
path within the reading and legality project. This path has
involved all social classes, drawing inspiration from the values taken from the book
‘Rocco and the Kingdom of Octopuses’ by Dario Vassallo, the mayor’s brother
fisherman Angelo Vassallo, killed by assassins for his principles
justice, legality and respect for the sea and the environment. The day has
highlighted the unity of purpose and solidity of the school team
elementary school who promoted the event dedicated to Angelo Vassallo, discussing
with the author Dario the themes addressed in the book. ‘Rocco and the Kingdom of
Polpi’, with a fairy-tale language, brings us closer to the values of the common good and to
respect for life, the sea and the living beings that populate it. THE
children read the book and created a themed scenario,
thus highlighting the centrality of legality within the institution
Viviani. It was an intense and meaningful school morning for the students
