“Best wishes to Cosenza football for remaining in Serie B and for the magnificent championship final confirmed last night also at the “Sinigaglia” in Como where, with salvation now achieved two days early, the rossoblù did themselves honor in a very difficult away match ”. This was stated by the Mayor of Cosenza, Franz Caruso, addressing the club, the team, the coach Viali and, above all, the splendid rossoblù fans, a message of best wishes and his warmest congratulations for the latest results achieved. “The feelings that pervade me today – underlined Franz Caruso – are a mixture of satisfaction and regret. Of satisfaction – explains the Mayor – for the goal of salvation, reached earlier than in recent years, but also of regret because the championship could have taken a different turn, being the last place to compete in the playoffs, all things considered , only 4 points away from Cosenza’s final ranking. My congratulations – underlined Franz Caruso – should certainly be addressed to the club, with the President Eugenio Guarascio, to the entire management and to the sporting director Gemmi, but I believe that the biggest thanks should be given to the entire team and its coach, William Viali, who returned to Cosenza after a brief period, but who, perhaps, should not have left Cosenza after his salvation last year. Now there is no need to dwell on the past, also because Viali has a contract that runs until June 2025 and it is hoped that we can start again with him to build a highly competitive team that can look forward to more ambitious goals with confidence. We are proud of the excellent work that Mister Viali completed, righting the ship and allowing Cosenza to acquire the deserved salvation two weeks early. And we saw it again last night, with Cosenza who held their own against Como, putting them in difficulty several times. Gennaro Tutino, the new idol of the rossoblù fans, deserves a separate discussion – and it couldn’t be otherwise. A player who, with his attachment to the shirt, the red and blue colors and the city of Cosenza itself, has entered everyone’s hearts. His 20 goals, as a born center forward, and thanks to which he beat Marco Negri’s record, which had stood for a very long time, say a lot about his value and the fact that it would be important to start again next season with Tutino. It is not up to me, as Mayor, to influence the technical choices, but, as a rossoblù fan, I hope that every effort can be made to keep Tutino in Cosenza. In fact, the Cosenza of the future could be built around Viali and Tutino and I am sure that the club and President Guarascio agree not only with my point of view, but also with all the fans on whom I would like to say a few words more. Using the adjective commendable could be almost reductive, not only for the incitement in the stands of San Vito-Marulla, but above all for the encouragement, which never failed, even in the most difficult moments, in the away games that our supporters, always numerous and coming from all over the province, they also faced very distant stages, always making their voice and support heard. With a fan base like this, no goal is precluded. Now let’s enjoy this moment, but from tomorrow we start working together for the new season. The time is ripe.”
