The dream of Gea Basketball Grosseto continues, engaged from Sunday (two-way at 6pm) in the final of Group A of Regional Division 1 on the Ineos Rosignano pitch, where the first two matches of a best-of-five series will take place .

Marco Santolamazza’s boys reached the final stage thanks to four consecutive victories at the expense of Valdicornia Venturina and Libertas Lucca, respectively fourth and first classified at the end of the regular season; the Livorno team instead beat Carrara Legends and Donoratico. It will be a difficult duel for the red and whites against an opponent with very high scoring percentages. To continue the journey, to reach the Final Three for promotion to Serie C (Monteroni-Virtus Certaldo and Cus Firenze-Cestistica Pescia the other two series) will therefore require determination and a lot of defense. The final includes two matches, Sunday and Wednesday, in Rosignano, two in Grosseto next Sunday and Wednesday 22nd, and the beautiful match on the Sei Rose pitch.

«We are quite excited – says coach Marco Santolamazza – the boys also need to calm down a bit in view of this final. In the ten days that have passed since the semi-final against Lucca, we have prepared something new to face a good team, especially in the attacking phase; we will have to attack them and limit them.”

«In a series of 3 out of 5 – continues Santolamazza – it will be fundamental to bring home one of the two races we play in Rosignano and then make the most of races 3 and 4. The most important thing will be the mental aspect.

Rosignano showed up in DR1 as a newly promoted player and over the course of the season immediately became a protagonist, taking the top of the rankings, leaving it at the end in Lucca. A young pivot from Cecina has arrived in view of the final.

«Compared to Lucca – underlines Santolamazza – they are stronger in attack with a series of excellent shooters, but they are less organized and with a more drillable defence. In these playoffs they suffered against Carrara, but they won overwhelmingly against Donoratico.”

The coach will have to do without the injured Dario Romboli and Lorenzo Fanelli who left Grosseto due to work commitments. Alberto Mazzei returns to the list, who can guarantee a good shot and always attentive direction.

Referees: Valeria Pitari and Chiara Paoli from Livorno.

The final programme: race 1, Sunday 12 May at 6pm, Rosignano Gea; race 2, Wednesday 15 May at 9pm, Rosignano-Gea; race 3, Sunday 19 May at 6pm, Gea-Rosignano; race 4, Wednesday 22 May at 9pm Gea-Rosignano; race 5, Sunday 26 May at 6pm, Rosignano-Gea.
