On the serious inability to manage resources by the Municipality of Messinawho was forced to return the 16 million euros to the Cohesion Agency for the PON Metro programme, intervenes on Political Movement “Let’s start from here” chaired by Ninni Petrella.
“We have taken note of the episode from the press and we can only be sorry. The news, as is known, was only released on 9 May, despite reference to resolution no. 2180 issued on 22 March 2024 by the general director Salvo Puccio. A public administration has the task of informing citizens and such a serious episode needed to be at least explained and motivated. Instead, as usual, they preferred to act in the shadows. This, among many things, shows that politics based on proclamations is of little use, if at all, in the long run. Perhaps we hoped that such news would go unnoticed? Unfortunately the data speaks very clearly. Here not only are no other tenders acquired but a significant sum is actually returned which would certainly have been useful to the city, which instead continues to be hit hard due to the poor management of public affairs. Messina is a city full of resources but to re-emerge it needs to return to the good old politics. It goes without saying that the South Call North Movement continues to lose the trust of the most attentive citizens and we only hope that many other citizens can understand the gravity of the situation, can observe how much incompetence lies behind the furor of now public figures, who, not being able to pursue the path of good politics honestly and with dignity, they preferred the media show. We hope that this episode is an important warning: let’s open our eyes and, in view of the European Championships, let’s evaluate truly competent candidates”.
