POZZUOLI – After more than two months, the house inside the building at number 55 in via Catullo, in the Toiano district, is still occupied. Inside there is a 36-year-old multiple criminal from Pozzuoli who, together with other people, last March broke down the door and took possession of the public housing which had once been assigned to an elderly woman, before passing to one of the grandchildren. The man, who boasts numerous criminal records for drugs and robbery and was close to the criminal groups of the local underworld, was identified and reported the day after the occupation by the Carabinieri of the Pozzuoli station who in turn then initiated, for competence, the process for the eviction by communicating the occupation to ACER (Campania Agency for Residential Building), the body that owns the properties nicknamed “tanks”.
THE CLEARANCE – While awaiting the procedure, which will also involve the municipality of Pozzuoli, the house still remains occupied and residents complain of inconvenience due to the presence of individuals who, at any time of day or night, break the peace. A similar case occurred at the beginning of the year in Via Napoli, where a council house had always been occupied at night in the “Moroccan district”. On that occasion the illegal occupants managed to enter after forcing a window on the ground floor. After the intervention of the police and the start of the process, the occupants were served with an eviction order which has not yet been respected. Ultimatum which will be followed, in the coming weeks, by the intervention of the police who will be called to forcibly evict the illegal occupants to restore legality.
