In the Theater section, they will create events based on the stories of the mental asylums of the past and the “invisible” ones of today: Antonio Coccia from Naples with “Ritornerai babe”, Greta Campisi from Prato with “How do the bees”, Paola Polifrone from Milan with “Opaco” and Michele Tomai from Florence with “30 years”.

In a special year like 2024, all in the name of Basaglia and at Chille’s home of the “MARCO CAVALLO OF THE XXI CENTURY”, an extraordinary creation by Edoardo Malagigi, San Salvi will re-propose some of the installations that have received wide acclaim in recent years: today “permanent presences ” in the San Salvi area. They range from “WITNESSES” by Zoya Shokoohi (2020), to “IL SOGNO PIU’ GRANDE” by Rocco Lopardo and Giovanni Marino and “STOP MANIHOUSE” by Francesco Maria Colucci (both 2021); to end with “SIAM SALVI” by Iacopo Bacherini (2023).

The event in collaboration with Santa Maria Nuova Foundationhe predicts at 5.30 pm the presentation of “Psychoanalyst without walls”book by Paolo Tranchina published in 1978 and re-edited this year on the occasion of the centenary of Basaglia’s birth. Participating in the meeting-presentation are Cesare Bondioli, Rocco Canosa, Maurizio Ferrara, Sandra Rogialli, Paolo Serra and Teresa Tranchina. On this occasion, the actresses Salomè Baldion and Sara Tombelli of Chille de la balanza read some pages of the book. Fifty years ago, a silent revolution began at the Arezzo Psychiatric Hospital, but one capable of restoring dignity and hope to that place of death, forever changing the history of Psychiatry in Italy. Paolo Tranchina, then a young Jungian psychoanalyst, in daily contact with the asylum discovered with difficulty that his theoretical tools were not sufficient. He thus began to confront madness “with his bare hands”.

The vernissage of the installations is set for Saturday 11 May at 6pm: appointment at the entrance gate of San Salvi in ​​via di San Salvi, 12. Participation is free, as is the meeting-presentation of Tranchina’s book. However, booking is recommended. The visit to the installations will take place again on Sunday 12 May at 6pm and on Monday 13 May, after the meeting in the Chiarugi Library.
