Farewell to Franca Piazzi Zellioli, historic teacher

SOSPIRO – She passed away in the Elderly Department of the Sospiro Foundation at the age of 92 Franca Piazzi Zellioli, one of the most significant voices in the panorama of Cremonese literatureparticularly in dialect, and beyond.

Known and appreciated as well as for literary merits, also for his past as an elementary teacher between Bagnara, Derovere, Bordolano, Grontardo and Cremona, where he spent almost twenty years at the Stradivari school.
In the literary field he had a copious production especially in dialect, also in prose, but above all in poetry.

«His was a city dialect, clean, literary and refined – he remembers her my friend Giovanni Scotti, president of the Sospiro Foundation – which also fully expressed the person she was: kind, polite, but also resolute and full of dignity. He always proposed poetic writing of great value, taking the most varied themes as inspiration. From family affections to the Po Valley landscape, from the characters of old Cremona to the memory of the past”.

Very close to her family, and also to her nephew Don Federico Celini, parish priest of Sospiro, she was a concrete, thoughtful person with a deep faith. She was the protagonist of many reading evenings proposed in the area by the El Zàch Group, of which she was councilor, librarian and editor of the social newsletter.

«With his passing – continues Scotti – the world of traditional Cremonese culture is further impoverished; However, what remains as a precious testimony are her books and, to those who knew and appreciated her, her life teachings.” The funeral will be Monday at 10am in the parish church of San Bernardo.
