The new headquarters is fully operational Space adolescence UFO – Universe Off Wave– inaugurated in recent days on the ground floor of the former Salesian complex in via San Giovanni Bosco 1 in Faenza.
UFO is a free listening and discussion space for teenagers and their familiesborn just over a year ago from the collaboration between the Union of Romagna Faentina and the AUSL of Romagna.
Here, young people between 16 and 25 years old and their families can turn to be listened to, express their doubts and difficulties by finding operators who can welcome them and give them answers to the different needs typical of adolescence, all with a view to prevention of the risk of school dropout and to offer a timely response to the first signs of distress.
From this privileged position, in addition to offering consultancy and individual support courses, also arise projects to support personal and relational well-being in the different life contexts of adolescents. Between these: the possibility of being hosted by local companies so as to be able to observe the different professions ‘in the field’ and have direct knowledge of the world of work; frequent laboratories designed specifically for those who are facing a period of difficulty in their school career and attending traditional training courses for those who are experiencing a period of stagnation in their growth path.
Through the experimentation of expressive techniques, the acquisition of personal and professional skills, and thanks to the comparison with adults and peers in welcoming and protected contexts, UFO therefore promotes the acquisition of self-esteem and relational skills.
For the realization of these projects, the support of local companies and associations; in this regard UFO has recently activated a collaboration with the Rione Giallo, which hosted the Young Lab laboratory entitled “Apprentice barista”, during which a group of boys and girls, led by an expert bartender and an educator, learned the fundamental preparations of the bar: from preparing coffee to serving breakfast to relating to customers.
The final moment of this first collaboration will be Sunday 12 May when, right in the local headquarters in via Bondiolo 85, from 8.30 to 12, the kids who followed the course will prepare and serve breakfast.
