If the Ca’ Lolli expansion basin, above Tebano, had been built, would it have helped reduce the damage to Castel Bolognese and Solarolo? The question presented by Fratelli d’Italia in view of the next city council is causing discussion. It all revolves around a story that began almost twenty years ago, in 2005. The construction of the expansion tank was entrusted to a private individual, near the confluence between Sintria and Senio, next to the Cuffiano expansion tank, also the one never became active. In exchange the private individual is granted permission to extract gravel. The works must be completed within 5 years and two sureties for approximately 2 million and 200 thousand euros are deposited as guarantee. However, the work is delayed year after year and is never completed. But the guarantees are never cashed and the expansion tank is never completed. The rest is history. Until the Municipality of Faenza, last April 30th, started the legal process to gain possession of the funds deposited in the bank. In the meantime, after the flood, financed by the commissioner structure, work began again to complete the works.
