Barilla celebrated its 30 years in Novara by donating an ambulance to the Red Cross

Last May 3, 2024, the doors of the Corso Vercelli factory opened, founded in 1953 with Pavesi products, which became Barilla in 1994.

Extending over an area of ​​183 thousand square metres, the Barilla factory has today churned out over 55 thousand tonnes of products every year, employing over 334 people of 12 different nationalities, having hired 65 people on permanent contracts in the last 5 years.

In 2022, over 10 million euros were invested to expand its production capacity, over 200 million in the last 15 years.

A center led by director Federica Massari who has worked in the group for 15 years and who today manages the Novara plant where 2 out of 3 managers are women: «We process 134 raw materials with 9 lines, i.e. ovens, for 37 recipes, 489 packaging codes and 101 products on the shelves” he explained. Numbers that make the productivity clear and which were praised by ministers Paolo Zangrillo and the mayor of Novara Alessandro Canelli.

Precisely to celebrate 30 years, Barilla, on the initiative of some employees, donated an ambulance equipped for neonatal emergencies to the Red Cross of Novara, which will serve the quadrant: «This vehicle will be a flagship – he illustrated Paolo Pellizzaripresident Cri Novara – this vehicle will be a flagship that will allow, with the thermal cradle, to transport newborns to the Aou or to the specialized centers that will be indicated to us”.

Also present for the occasion Rosario Maria Gianluca Valastronational CRI president, underlined the 160 years of commitment of the Red Cross, with an important value.

The centrality of the person also in the speech of the owner, Luca Barilla: «I learned from my grandfather and my father to behave well in life, valuing the heritage that has been left to us, the people who work. This is a very difficult moment, which makes us question the future, but in parallel we have the opportunity to improve services, focusing on sustainability which must not be just a cliché. We must give perspective to the Planet through education and training. The problems that beset us are the children of the world’s ignorance and three must become our pillars: family, school and work. We have always been proud to pay taxes and try to set a good example. Solidarity is one of the fundamental values ​​and we must thank those who give their time.”

Among the projects supported in Novara, the collaboration with Angsa, which involves young people with autism and their educators in setting up products in the company shop, and that with the Italian Union of the Blind.
