Europeans, Lupo “More commitment against inequalities” – BlogSicilia

PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – “Europe must regulate the labor market in a safe manner: we need a directive that can guide the legislation of member countries, improving workers’ contractual conditions, providing more training to prevent accidents, supporting companies to the investments necessary to reduce risks. All this is a process that can start from Europe” and “which must pass through national parliaments, to then reach all workplaces”. Giuseppe Lupo, municipal councilor in Palermo and candidate of the Democratic Party in the Islands constituency in the European elections, said this in an interview with the Italpress agency, with the aim of acting as a “connection between the territory and Brussels, to achieve the within the European Parliament the requests of Sicily and Sardinia”. For Lupo “we need to realize how important Europe is: we perceive it as distant and perhaps we don’t realize that the school where we take our children every morning was built with European funds”, he recalled.
“We need to better communicate to our territory what is being done in the European Parliament. Too often we have elected European parliamentarians who seemed to have a one-way ticket to Brussels and this has contributed to making Europe even more distant than it actually is”, underlined Lupo, for whom this aspect is even more “fundamental considering that we still have a good part of the Pnrr funds to spend, 200 billion euros invested by Europe in Italy, a good part of which for the South. For the Municipality of Palermo there are 311 million in productive investments,” he recalled. “Europe is really important for relaunching the economy, for reducing territorial, gender and social inequalities: we must ensure that there is an income redistribution mechanism and that all this can contribute to economic and social growth, to the affirmation of rights,” he concluded.
