This morning in Piazza Fiera in Trento the graduation ceremony took place for 411 new doctors of the university who received the parchment after the traditional throwing of the tòcchi, as has happened since November 2015.
The academic procession started from Palazzo Sardagna, seat of the rectorate.
This year’s guest is Andrea Nardelli, graduated from UniTrento in Economics in 2008, current general manager of Aquila Basket.
In his speech, the rector of the University of Trento referred to the freedom of expression of the student demonstrators: this morning the Sapienza University in Rome was occupied.
The discussion must serve to advance our ideas but also with those of others, which is why the discussion must be civil, honest, starting from listening.
The University has the duty to form critical and autonomous thoughts to face the challenges of our time in a united way.
Opportunity to reduce the autonomy of the University in its decisions, being autonomous does not mean being infallible, but it is a value for carrying forward ideas and positions that can be enriching for everyone: if the university cultivates freedom of expression and autonomy becomes an outpost of society.
