PRESS RELEASE

The Tuscany Region has financed the “On board!” project, which brings together the University of Pisa, the nautical company Yachtitalia and the Municipality of Massa, with the aim of bringing knowledge of the nautical world within the local schools. A questionnaire was administered to the children of various institutes in the city, such as Fermi or Palma, to understand the needs of the children of our city not only in socio-cultural terms but also to understand their job expectations.
A particular focus was reserved for the nautical sector, which is rapidly developing in our area, a sector which is not only the construction of yachts, but also includes aspects of design, technology, marketing and trade. The project aims to make this sophisticated luxury sector attractive for new professional figures, thus opening up job opportunities and personal development for students, also trying in the long term to avoid the phenomenon that leads our young people to look for work outside our reality.
“The Municipality of Massa, together with the project partners – declared the Mayor Francesco Persiani – is committed to promoting greater youth participation in the nautical sector, thus creating a support network to stimulate young citizens to enhance their knowledge and skills remaining in the territory”.
The training part of the project was managed by Professor Serena Gianfaldoni, training professor at the University of Pisa, who conducted the questionnaire to collect information on young people’s expectations and perspectives regarding the nautical sector. Today, in the Massa City Council room, the so-called restitution of the project takes place, through the presentation of the results of this investigation, which will help guide future administrative choices.
The participatory process actively involved students and local educational institutions, as well as representatives of the nautical sector and the civil community.
