Greek’s tower. Loans with usury rates that in some cases reached the threshold of 240% per year. An order issued by the investigating judge of the Torre Annunziata court against 9 people was carried out. Of these, 5 are the recipients of precautionary custody in prison (2 of which have already been detained for another reason), 2 of house arrest and 2 of presentation to the judicial police.

All the recipients of the ordinance are seriously suspected, in various capacities, of crimes of usury, extortion and drug dealing.

The investigations began following the report of a victim of usury and made it possible to shed light on various episodes of usury committed by a group of people, each operating independently from the others, to whom the victim had turned starting from 2023 in an attempt to deal with their economic difficulties.

It was ascertained that the victim, in a moment of economic difficulty, had found the apparent availability of acquaintances who had initially offered to lend her money and then demanded the monthly repayment of sums of money that were disproportionate to the initial debt, applying high usurious rates which in some cases reached the threshold of 240% per year.

During the investigations it emerged that some of the suspects, close to Camorra clans active in the Torre Annunziata area, although they were in prison at the time of the events, had agreed to supply cocaine to the drug dealing centers in the Salerno area. During the investigations, cocaine was seized with the arrest of a courier.
