May 6, 2024 marked an indelible chapter in the history of Sicilian olive growing. The Italian Federation of Independent Olive Growers (FIOI) entered the island by creating a delegation and celebrating this moment of great significance at the Tenuta Cavasecca in Noto.
The event, which attracted the attention of olive growers from every corner of Sicily, was a tangible tribute to the crucial role that this region plays in the national olive growing panorama. Among the protagonists of the day, Antonella Titone, vice president of FIOI and producer at the Titone Agricultural Company, expressed her satisfaction with the arrival of the federation in Sicily: “Creating a delegation in this land is a step forward of immense value.
The enthusiasm and interest shown by those present testifies to the potential for growth and sharing of values that characterize our community”. Caterina Mazzocolin, General Secretary of FIOI, highlighted the enthusiasm that the Sicilian olive growing community has gathered in joining the federation. “The increase in new members and the creation of this delegation are tangible signs of the desire to promote good practices and encourage sustainable growth for all players in the sector”. The FIOI delegate for Sicily, Vincenzo Signorelli, underlined the contribution of Antonella Titone in the olive growing panorama, defining it as an essential point of reference for historic olive growers.

The meeting offered the unique opportunity to discover the Federation’s projects and initiatives, as well as taking part in a tasting of the oils produced by FIOI members, a moment of sharing and discussion, enriched by the presence of experts and professionals in the sector, which highlighted the importance of joining forces to promote the quality and excellence of the ‘Sicilian oil. In closing, Dario Ficara, FIOI deputy delegate for Sicily and representative of Tenuta Cavasecca, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and interest aroused by the event, underlining the objective of arousing curiosity and stimulating debate around Sicilian olive growing.
