As the publisher Ivan Simonini says in the preface of a recent volume dedicated to the pair of performances from Ravenna; “ … for about 30 years they have offered a spectacle of themselves in every possible artificial or natural theatre, assimilating leaving, action painting, body art and, naturally, street art with ever greater mastery … they have always tried their hand at avant-garde born as an expression of popular art from below: a real call to the arts open to all, inclusive, accessible, aimed at promoting creativity and participation”. And since this couple of art “globetrotters” is better known in Italy and abroad than in their city, with this initiative the FaroArte Gallery and Edizioni del Girasole intend to make them better known and appreciated in Ravenna too.

Fascinated by the Dadaist movement and playing with the surname Strada, they have more recently called themselves ‘STRADADA’, embodying in their own way, and without inferiority complexes, a new current: ‘STRADADAISM’…

The goal of the Dadaists was to shock, or at least surprise the spectators, by replacing their ‘common sense’ with ‘non-sense’, since ‘common sense’ had failed. All within the framework of the rigorous rejection of the current artistic tradition. The new art therefore had to be invented, it was in progress, and the term (onomatopoeic!?) ‘dada’, so naïve, in its infantile nudity devoid of explicit meanings, well symbolized the creative opportunity to raze to the ground with surgical gracefulness the consolidated power system of cultural institutions.
